I\u2019m more likely to be nervous if I\u2019m unsure of my parts or I\u2019m unrehearsed. And I\u2019ve had those dreams where I\u2019m onstage and have absolutely no idea what I\u2019m meant to be doing.<\/p>\n Remembering lyrics is sometimes a problem for me and so if I\u2019m singing I can fret a little. The answer is to be as prepared as much as possible by listening to the songs that I am to perform on high rotation and singing along until eventually they sink in.<\/p>\n If this doesn’t help you when you’re onstage then try emphasising different sides to your character during your performance. Performing music onstage is a bit like acting in that you can almost become another person. You can allow your inner show off to emerge. After all the more outgoing you allow yourself to be onstage the more entertaining it will be for the audience.<\/p>\n And isn’t entertaining people what performing is all about?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Time for a new question. \nYou have been one of the people to really inspire me to continue learning music and new instruments, but I’m a shy person who gets awful stage fright. I was wondering if you were ever scared of performing in front of others, or even if you still get nervous now? Do you have any ways of getting over the anxiety of it all?<\/p>\n
\nI never really suffered with stage fright to be honest, certainly not the crippling kind. If I\u2019m feeling slightly anxious at all, which does happen occasionally, I tend to go quiet and my lips dry up.<\/p>\n
