Claudette was one of the two girls that came up with the idea for “Pick Steve’s Brain” initially. So we thought it would only be fair to let her have the first question:
Claudette:
Since Steve was watching the RWC matches (especially the final) – and by the sounds of it has a real interest in the game. SO, my question for Steve is; “Who is your favorite international rugby player ever/of all time?”
Steve:
Aw Claudette! This is a tricky one for me. I do enjoy rugby but I’m far more knowledgable about football. I did get swept away with the RWC recently however, as you know. I lived very close to Twickenham once, within earshot of the roaring crowd and so started to watch a few games in the local pubs. But I’ve never been to a match. I’m told that the atmosphere is electric with a real family vibe about it.
Friends of mine have educated me somewhat in the rules although I still don’t understand everything. I’m still a novice I’m afraid
A few years back I would have said that my fave player was Jonny Wilkinson just because of ‘that kick’ but I’m not so sure he deserves it now.
I know that you’re from New Zealand but I would have to say, hand on my heart that Jonah Lomu deserves the accolade of my fave player. May he rest in peace.
